Soifon moves forward to stab the arrancar, but the arrancar frees himself by blowing up the building with a cero. After exchanging some blows with Soifon, the arrancar tells the Squad 2 captain that she's too soft, since he would have flash-stepped in her situation. The arrancar kicks Soifon into a building, and proceeds to further mock her status as the captain of Soul Society's "assassin squad". The arrancar then introduces himself as Ggiovega starts transforming into his true form.

Meanwhile, Omaeda is repeatily whacks his opponent with his sword, but his attacks have no effect. After Omaeda tires out from swinging his sword, he is sent flying by a slap from the fat arrancar. The fat arrancar states that he really wanted fight the blonde girl (I guess he means Rangiku) and has no interest in a slow-ass fattie like Omaeda. Omaeda defends his plumpness, but this just prompts the arrancar to release his true form. The arrancar turns into a big elephant-humanoid and batters Omaeda around. Omaeda tries to jump away but discovers that the arrancar remains good at jumping despite his now larger size. The arrancar tells Omaeda not to judge a book by its cover as he is about to crush Omaeda with his trunk, but Omaeda suddenly speeds up and dodges the blow. Not only that, Omaeda ends up standing on the arrancar's shoulders with his sword pointing at the arrancar's head. The arrancar tries to grab Omaeda, but Omaeda easily dodges, releases his shikai, and nails the arrancar with his spiked-ball-and-chain. Omaeda then tells his opponent (now knocked silly) not to judge a book by its cover.
